Jamul Casino celebrates 16-story towering achievement

The Jamul Indian Village Development Corporation (JIVDC), an enterprise owned by the Jamul Indian Village Tribe, celebrated the final beam ceremony for Jamul Casino’s new 16-story hotel tower on 12 July.

Scheduled for completion in spring 2025, the luxurious integrated hotel will boast 200 rooms, including 52 spacious suites, and offer guests a curated collection of leisure experiences. During the ceremony, the Jamul Casino executive team and members of the Jamul Indian Village tribe signed the final beam, followed by a traditional blessing led by Tribal Elder Kenny Meza. Adorned with the Jamul Indian village flag, the beam was hoisted to the top of the tower, symbolising the momentous progress of the construction.

The event included remarks from renowned figures like Mary Cheeks, the President & General Manager of Jamul Casino, Tribal Council members Teresa Cousins and James Cuero, project representatives Brandon Silveira (Senior Project Manager, CW Driver Companies) and Stephen Frazier (Senior Project Architect, JCJ Architecture), and Chairwoman of the Jamul Indian Village and JIVDC Board Erica M. Pinto.

They expressed their gratitude to the project’s contributors, highlighted the hotel’s value for the Jamul Indian Village, and offered insights into the exciting offerings it will bring to Jamul Casino visitors. The ceremony concluded with a lunch to honour the construction workers’ dedication to building the premier hotel.

“After years of conceptualising and planning, we are proud to mark this significant milestone in Jamul Casino’s history. We are appreciative of our partners at C.W. Driver Companies as they help bring this vision to life, and we cannot wait to open the hotel doors and invite guests to experience it for themselves next year,” said Chairwoman Pinto.

The new hotel, designed to resemble a “crystalline jewel box” next to the breathtaking view of the Jamul mountains, is expected to redefine the region’s hospitality landscape. Casino guests will enjoy the convenience of staying directly on-site and seamless access to the hotel’s state-of-the-art amenities via a climate-controlled sky bridge.

The luxurious offerings will include an expansive 4,800-square-foot restaurant boasting breathtaking views, retail stores, venues for meetings and banquets, a full-service spa and salon with an outdoor deck, a fitness centre, lavish guest rooms with VIP suites, and a spectacular rooftop experience featuring an 11,000-square-foot pool deck with a jetted hot tub, inviting cabanas, and a stylish rooftop bar.

A legacy of resilience and self-sufficiency

The Jamul Indian Village of California is a federally recognised tribe with roots tracing back 12,000 years. They were a part of the Kumeyaay Nation, and their ancestors thrived in San Diego County and northern Mexico, living off the land and passing down traditions for generations.

Guided by the principles of independence and self-sufficiency, the Jamul Indian Village has overcome challenges and emerged stronger. The construction of the Jamul Casino, a world-class gaming facility, represents the next chapter in the tribe’s ongoing story, a testament to their enduring spirit.
