A decade of crypto in iGaming

The most impactful changes, partnerships and features in online gaming that truly shot BTC on every gambler’s screen

Although crypto gambling is technically not even 10 years old yet, as the first appearance of BTC on a casino website was in August of 2011, it’s still a topic of celebration.

Even during the year when very few people knew about the existence of Bitcoin, it already had enough “value” to be featured on one of the most popular activities in the world, Poker.

And that small feature in 2011 was a testament to how far BTC could grow both on its own, and in the iGaming sector. Nowadays, wherever we look, we find casinos painting their pages gold and featuring the ? we all know and love.

A couple of highlights from the last decade

Although every single event that helped BTC further disrupt the gambling industry is vitally important, it’s still necessary to outline the most impactful changes, partnerships or features that truly shot BTC on every gambler’s screen.

  • 2013 – SoftSwiss launches a crypto-friendly solution
  • 2018 – Ligercoin enters the fray
  • 2021 – IGT files for patent to bring BTC to offline casinos

Although these are the most impactful events in the past 10 years for crypto in casinos, we’re still scratching the surface.

Boiling down 10 years of information in 1 picture is no small task. After 50 hours of research and design, BitcoinCasinosReviews was able to come up with the infographic you can find below.
